Caught myself asking the same question I have been asking myself my whole life for the past few days...

"Why do people get themselves into stuff that makes them miserable, when they clearly know exactly what they are getting themselves into?"

In plain blunt words, it's like while walking one day, u see a speeding bus headed your way...
But instead of jumping on to the pavement away from its course,
You stand still, allowing it to hit you
Hoping that it will take u someplace better...

Deep down inside, you know what you are getting yourself into
But somewhere along the way, you give into your emotions
To this little thing commonly known as "Hope"

Hope....
Something that keeps us alive... Pushes us to move forward in our lives...
And yet it has the power to do the exact opposite...
To kill you altogether...

Have you ever thought why humans are created the way they are?
I mean....
We're given the brains to think logically....
To be completely objective about our decisions...

But
at the same time,
we are also given a heart
that makes up our emotional side

Don't you think those two contradicts each other?
When you find yourself in situations where
Ur mind tells u to do it one way....
But your heart tells you another...?

And once again, I shall end this post by how I normally would...
Emphasizing the fact that
the human race is indeed a weird race...

And all I can say is that its just beautiful....

Been back home for like a few days now
But today was the very first day I stayed in the entire day
Bored as hell...
Seriously... BORED as hell!!!!

Duno how am I gonna survive the next month or so...
Good thing I got stuff planned over the next few days....

Oh yeah, on another note...
There's a possibility that I might be moving soon..

Saying goodbye to a place that I have been staying for like 17 years
would not be more difficult....

Speaking of death...
Being totally random here,
But I was just sitting down to myself, thinking of...

My funeral...

The typical Malaysian christian kinda funeral would be
A memorial service, then the casket will remain open for a night for friends and relatives who come and go..
And the next morning, one final service before heading to the cemetary...

Now,
my idea for my funeral would be...

Keeping the tradition of open casket for a night...
I wanna be dressed in white, by the way... Not the usual black suit.. Just for a change..

An acoustic guitar to be playing at the memorial,
Playing my favourite songs... Taking requests as well.. :)

During the final memorial however,
I would love for them to play a playlist I personally mixed...
If time permits, and if i actually manage to carry it out,
I would love for the host to read out my messages to my loved ones... Along with a list of what I love about them, why do I love them.. Stuff like that..

U know the final moment when ur friends and relatives start to take a last look at you in the casket before they seal it?
I would love to have a bottle of tequila right beside my casket...
And to those who drink, well.. a shot of tequila for dead ol' me wud ya? :D

It will be nice to have like a last shot with everyone... :)

Oh, and for the final touches..
I would like to be burried with one of my guitars...

Thoughts...

In life, I believe that we are always caught in between 2 forces
2 forces that contradicts each other, making us strive to achieve the both of them without compromising too much of the other....
Everyone will face this dilemma sooner or later, at one point of their lives...

Lets just say these 2 forces are :
i) Obligations
ii) Desires

Picture this for a moment, its actually very simple, really...
Everyone at one point of their live or another, have their own individual obligations to perform
Be it classes, assignments, your job, whatever it is...
On the other hand, they have their own desires as well
It can be as simple as hanging out with friends or as significant as pursuing a passion.

And as we all know, it is human nature that we never run out of desires...
We constantly have desires, just a matter of how big it is...
A 18 year old youth who just got his driving license would yearn for a car...
Give him a car, and he'll yearn for something better...
Give him something better, and he'll still want something that is out of reach..
And the cycle continues...

This particular attribute of the human nature ensures that we are constantly fighting with ourselves.....
To do good, or to do bad?
To do the things Im supposed to do, or the things that I want to do...
We are constantly asking ourselves these questions that keep pushing us back and forth every now and then...

Solution?

If there is an obvious solution, and if this problem could be solved in the first place,
There would'nt be striving within ourselves
There would'nt be a battle within ourselves
And these battles are actually the key factor that pushes the human race to improve their current situation,
Whether ur starving in a third world country,
Or enjoying caviar on a luxorious yacht,
the moment we stop striving for the better,
Will be the moment we stop improving life...

This problem will never be solved, only identified and dealt with....
But at the end of the day....

That's what makes us human...

After classes today... (Technically we skipped one... but it was nth much anyways...)
Robin, Serita and myself, fellow COWs... :P
Took a trip down to KL to do a little music shopping...
After doing our researches for a few days, that is...

So first of all, we headed to Ultimate Music on Jalan Imbi...
To get MY stuff... :P

So I've been thinking about it over the past week edi...
And this was my 1st choice of them all...

Got myself a neat Chorus pedal..
A little something to give a little edge to the cleans we normally play... :P

Takes a little getting used to.. But so far its performing well... :D

And next on the list, this is my favourite...

An acoustic modeler...
Was debating whether or not to get one.. Its actually something that I always wanted, but was never really relevant..
Oh, btw.. They're both Behringer if u havent noticed...
Im not fooling around here, but honestly... They actually sound better than Boss's models..
Well, ok.. for the acoustic modeler at least...
Waaaaaaaaaaaaaay better than Boss's....
No regrets getting it.. :D

All in all I got a deal from the sales guy..
The bill came up to like RM340.. He was nice enough to bring it down to RM300,
though it was still over my budget.. But I've been putting this off for too damn long..

Ok, for this one.. I did not get it brand new..
(That would run me up to like around RM400)
I needed something for distortion, and the Boss MT-2's range is simply amazing...
Originally, I wanted to for the one by Digitech...
But since Robin was getting himself a kick ass multi effects, he doesnt need his MT-2 any more...
So I got it off him for like RM200....
Still in perfect condition, besides the amount of dust collected in between the knobs.. He took awesome care of it over the years.. :P

Speaking of Robin's new multi effects...
After getting my stuff from Ultimate Music,
we headed to Bentley at Bukit Bintang...
And this is what he got himself...

Ok, not really a clear picture of the whole thing..
FYI, he got himself the Boss GT-10...
Before this I really duno much about multi effects...
But after trying it out, it really blew me away...
The amount of stuff one can do on this baby..
Simply unbelievable...

Actually it kinda should..
Since it comes with a RM2,000 price tag.. :P

Just look at the smile on that idiot's face... :P

Obviously, the individual pedals I have doesnt come anywhere near to his level...
But this will be my new line up the next time we jam...

And Im not complaining.. :P

Ok, maybe the fact that I spent most of my cash on them and Im gonna have to starve my way through next week might bump me out a bit..

But its worth it.. :D

Its been forever since I last update...
Dun really wanna call this a comeback, but I guess I'll just give a shot at blogging all over again...

Things really have changed over the course of the last month...

Got myself registered for my 2nd last semester here in Limkokwing earlier this month..
And classes have been going on for about 3 weeks already..
Things are going great, in terms of my uni life...
Met up with old friends over here...
Honestly, I wud never expect myself to refer to them as 'old friends'
But it just seems right...

Had a little problem with the rooms at my hostel
You see, the previous place where I've been staying since sem3 has been occupied...
Long story short, we were supposed to get the place again, after a certain someone moves out,
But in the end we found ourselves stuck on the 4th floor... ( 3A to be precise... )
So, previously from staying in my own room, now Im sharing my room with Martin..
Feels kinda different, not having the entire place to myself where I can do anything I want at anytime I want....
But its all good... :)

PIKOM PC Fair 2009 - Dissapointing

So, I took a trip to KLCC today for the annual PC Fair
Supposed to go yesterday, but due to unforseen cirumstances (I was as sick as a dog!),
had to postpone it to today... sadly to say...

Surprisingly my dad actually gave me the car for the day
I thought I was gonna do the usual and count on our ever so efficient Malaysian public transportation system
I guess I got lucky... :P

So I left at around 1035, went to pick up Audrey and we took off to meet up with Willy in KL..
Got there at around 11 something.. and thank God we manage to get a car park without any problem.

The first place we went.. was...
well, technically we went straight to the directory coz we had no idea wat to eat...
But yea, the 1st place we went was to Sakae Sushi to fill up our noisy stomachs..

The conveyor belt never fail to mesmerize me for some reason...

After that we headed straight to the fair..
And honestly speaking, I was kinda dissapointed...

I had like RM200 with me, and I thought I was gonna have a hard time holding myself back from buying stuff...

But everything was still kinda pricey, not much of a difference...
And the choices were not exactly that many...

But one thing for sure is u get all the big names with their own individual booths..
Therefore, there are way more options to choose from each individual brand..
But thats if ur there to get the big stuff like monitors, speakers, laptops..
Not the minor insignificant stuff like the ones i was looking for...

So anyways, to make the day worthwhile, we headed all the way back to Pyramid
to catch Couples Retreat...
Willy n me smuggled an underage girl into an 18PL movie.. cant believe it.. :P

Totally awesome..
U guys should check it out.. Its laughter almost from the beginning all the way till the end..
This combination is always a handful.. Vince Vaughn, Jason Bateman...
But my favourite character in the movie has gotta be...

Cost me RM50.. but its pretty good..
With only one big ass fan.. it surprisingly does its job pretty well..

Movies galore

Managed to catch A Christmas Carol when I was in KL the other day
Pretty awesome movie...
Kinda wished I read the classic before actually watching the movie now..
Oh well...

Animation was pretty impressive, especially when there's low lighting
But when the characters are out in the open, you can tell that its a little fake-ish..
Although they perfected the characters' expression...
Flawless, I must say...

I just noticed lately, I've been watching a lot of movies that actually has a hidden message behind them..
Kinda woke me up as well, this movie..
But I must say, they did the novel justice...
It was amazing....

2 other movies which I wanna catch, hopefully tomorrow before heading for the PC Fair...

Love Happens

Really wanna watch this one, coz I love the 2 leading actor and actress..
Jen Aniston and Aaron Eckhart. They're both just amazing..
I cant recall a movie where they actually worked together..
Therefore, Im really looking forward to this one..

Exams r over!!! Finally!!!
Im a free man for 3 months!!!
Started off the celebrations right away after Public Policy.
Headed over to Pyramid with Dana, Rob, Izat and Martin to have lunch..
Manage to catch Planet 51 as well..
Not as great as it could be.. But it was ok..

Headed back to Cyberjaya Community Park, hoping to go for some go karting, but in the end it was closed.. AGAIN...
3rd time we've been there edi.. always closed.. oh well...
So we headed back home, i took a nap
and at nite Rob picked me up and we took off to The Loft, at Asian Heritage...
Was so worried that I couldnt get in, coz the age requirement for guys is 23 over there....
But thanks to Rob's friend, they brought me in..
And we had free drinks all nite long..

So anyways, Rob, Andrew n myself decided to drop by at Bentley last Sunday to get some stuff that we need for the performance.
(at that point, we didnt know it was postponed yet...)

Spent the nite before at Rob's place, and we headed off like 4 something...
Coz we only woke up at like 1 or so... :P

We arrived there, and we managed to catch a local act performing at the homegrown area of Bentley... Didnt catch the name of the band though, but they were pretty good...

So the guitars there were as usual... Impressive along with their price tags..
Been there like 5 or 6 times edi. The only difference this time is they stocked up on more Takamine's. Which kinda gave me more options now rather than just the EJ200 CE or the hummingbird, which are very hard to locate here in KL...

So we moved on to the drums section which I have never been in yet...
And boy was I impressed...

Seriously, the amount of stuff u can get for ur drumset is just mindblowing
And the price too...
Cymbals there range from hundreds all the way to the thousands...

Andrew spotted a snare which sounded pretty good... and it cost RM500.. Pretty good value actually for a decent Tama snare..

Although I've seen drumsets with more toms on utube vids, but to see 1 like this right in front of my eyes was still overwhelming..

A new strap!
Cost me RM69... But it comes with a lock, so its kinda secured... And I think its worth the money... The lock is really useful...

Got myself new strings as well.. Figured I better change them...
Dun wan them to sound crappy when Im up on stage..
Sticking to D'Addario for the time being.. I'll experiment with others some other time...

Re-stringing... and cleaning up my dearly beloved...

Voila!!! Done... And the new strings sound great..
No regrets...

Album launch performance got postponed till further notice...
But it gives us more time to practice and perfect the songs we wanna play..
So far we have 3 songs on the list... Besides our original, we'll be doing 2 covers...
Really looking forward to it... :D

Gotta see how things go, but I really got a good feeling about this band... Every one of us... :)

Digi Live Presents AAR Live In Malaysia (Part 3 - "Meet & Greet"

Ok.. Finally my last post about AAR..
The Meet and Greet...
Lets include the " "...
Lets try that again, shall we?
The "Meet and Greet".. There, thats better.. :D

So after the gig, which ended at around 11, we gathered at the back of the "Front of House"
Hmm.. At the back of the Front of House.. Interesting..
Well, basically where all the audio and lighting controls are.. Near the huge screen...
First and foremost, we kinda thought we were damn lucky and exclusive to get those M&G passes...
We thought we were gonna chill and have a few drinks with the Rejects while we bombard them with questions and picture...
But this is what the rest of the crowd looked like...

Yup, every single last one of them got themselves a M&G pass as well...
U have no idea how "exclusive" I felt at that very point...

So, anyways.. We got into line.. And they divided us into different groups according to how we got our passes...
Those who got them from Digi and radio stations were given priority to head in first.. Obviously...
Me and Willy got into like almost the last line..

As soon as we got into our lines, they escorted us back stage...

At that point, I was so God damn excited... I was actually gonna meet them for the 2nd time!!

We were escorted by the RELAs all the way back..
While on our way in, I spotted a guy trying to sneak into the line..
Only to be spotted and shoved away by 1 of the RELA's.. They're pretty rough I must say...

Passed by the VIP and Media Entrance which was just beside the stage...
How convenient...

Nice bunch of girls we kept bumping into the entire day...
They were in front of us at the autograph session in Pavilion...
Bumped into them again somewhere during the gig..
And then, the meet&greet, they were in front of us... again...
Didnt manage to get their names though... All we had in mind was just AAR.. XD
Oh btw... The girl on the left was dressing up as Nick and the one on the right as Tyson..
Those were the exact same outfits they wore for World Stage... Does it ring a bell? ^^

K, this is where reality hits..
They broke us down into groups of 20s..
We all took turns to enter this tent..
So when it was our turn, I was too damn busy setting up my phone cam.
Till I totally did not realize that when we got in, the boys were there right in front of us...
I thought it was like a long way into the area we're gona meet them..
I was wrong...

So I still had my phone in my hand, thinking who shall I approach 1st...
Before I know it, the Digi people pushed me all the way in, asked me to squat...
And the cameraman in front of us told us to smile for the cam..
Snap..
And they started chasing us out...

Seriously, I didnt get to talk to any one of the Rejects... At all..
I was literally pulled out of the tent... Along with everybody else of course...

Well, at least I got a pic with them.. Although we were not really close..
I say this everytime I look at this pic and Im gonna say it again...
I look like CRAP!!!

There's really nothing we can do but to bitch about the Digi people afterwards..
So we carry on to do so on our way out...
While some of the girls were hyperventilating coz they managed to hug Nick or Ty..

We bumped into a walking iPod..
With AAR's I Wanna currently playing...
How cool is that??? ^^

So after the whole thing, Willy gave his dad a call to come pick us up....
We had to wait since its gonna take a while till he gets to us..
So we walked around aimlessly around the venue
By then, most of the crowd left... It was only the 2 of us wherever we go..

And guess who did we bump into.. AGAIN..
Yup.. the same bunch of girls... For like the 4th time??? Haha..
And they had with them some interesting stuff...

If u havent guessed it edi, they sneaked into AAR's dressing room after they left...
Awesome I tell u!!! Should've tagged along with them.. Would've been fun... XD

Must be Ty getting himself preped for the show... So he's a whiskey kinda guy? Awesome!!!

And this is why I was so confident with their set list that nite.
Coz I got hold of it!!!! XD

So after chilling for a bit, we split, and we all headed home...
And that would be the end of one of the most AWESOMEST gig I've ever been to... (I know there is no such word... )

So, once again I shall say this...

They came, they saw..
They conquered Malaysia... No doubt..

Digi Live Presents AAR Live In Malaysia (Part 2 - The Gig)

So after the session at Pavilion, Willy & me, we headed to the McD outlet at Bukit Bintang to have lunch.
After which we dropped by Bentley and Chambers for a bit to check out guitars before we actually left for the gig.
We first took a monorail to Hang Tuah station, and then switch to the Sri Petaling line to Bukit Jalil...

Just looooove taking public transport...

Funny story, while getting on the 2nd train, I actually left Willy behind and he had to take like 2 trains after mine... (Those automated doors do close very fast.... :P)

So we reached the venue at around 2.30pm
A quick trip to the loo, and then we were off to the queue at the entrance...

By then the line has already started building up.
Believe it or not, there were people who started lining up as early as 8am!!! Thats insane!!!

These people were at the back of us... The line grew that long in less than an hour...

Duno if u guys can see the length of the line, but to put it in simple terms, we were not even in the shot.. we're Waaaaaayyyy to the right of the picture... And this was around 4 something...

The heat was killing I tell you.. We were literally trying to find every possible way to shield ourselves from the mighty sun...

Fluid's very very important.. Crucial to our survival that day... XD

At around 5pm out of nowhere, everyone started getting up.
Being Malaysians, when 1 does something, everyone else follow... So everyone in line stood up..
Pada hal, they havent open the gates yet.. -.-'''

Around 5.15 if im not mistaken, they opened up the gates, and suddenly the line wasnt there anymore...

Everyone just started pushing and cutting in..
Hell broke loose...
We were dragged by the crowd... all the way in.. we didnt even need to move a muscle, the crowd would push us forward... SERIOUS!!!

Still, we manage to get in when most of the crowd were still stuck outside.. So we were kinda lucky... Coz we had the option to head in front if we wanted to... Although we didnt in the end...

The very first thing we did when we went in was to redeem out meet and greet pass...
In exchange for the token we got earlier at Pavilion..

It was gold that day.. Had to guard it with my life.. Though I just wore it on my neck throughout the whole gig.. Haha..

Moments later we met up with Audrey who got in even earlier than us even though she reached Bukit Jalil at like around wat? 5? -.-'''

Chillin' while waiting for the gig to start...

As we were chilling waiting for the concert to begin, we spot these guys wandering around..
They were hitz crew... Dressing up for the occasion.. And their outfits were pretty awesome..

This guy in the white mask invited us into the Hitz zone (supposedly for lucky winners only) after we took pictures with them and chatted for a bit...
We thought we were damn lucky coz before the gig, Hitz zone passes were going for like RM200 a piece!!!
But as time goes by, people just swamped in, no security was present to check for the tags...

The crowd got bigger and bigger.. And soon, Ean and Hani Madu came out to open up the crowd...

So the first band up was Disagree.. They played a few familiar hits... but I cant remember the titles.. And as expected, they finish off with Crumbs, their biggest hit so far.. They even brought out a marching band for that number.. and they sounded awesome...

The 2nd band up was Pop Shuvit.. And they actually played their earlier hit, Old School Rocker.. How cool is that? And obviously, they did Marabahaya... Which drove the crowd crazy.. Mootz was having the time of his life.. At the climax of it all, he went down to the crowd, and actually jumped into the crowd.. Awesome...

3rd band up was One Buck Short.. Unfortunately, their lead singer was hospitalised and couldnt make it to the gig... Instead they got help from other bands instead.. JD from Pop Shuvit, frontman of Bunkface, Estrella and a few more took turns to hit the stage with the rest of the band.. They were great..

Ok, i gotta come clean here... I was too busy enjoying the music till I totally left the pictures out..
I figured I should really enjoy the gig while I was there.. Instead of keeping myself busy taking pics.. :P

Ok, to give u a picture of how big a crowd of 15,000 people really is, check this out..
And yea, 15,000 people showed up that nite... The crowd was as big as MTV World Stage a few months ago... ^^

So, The All American-Rejects came back for the 2nd time.
Ty, Mike, Nick and Chris really loves Malaysia i guess? (I sure do hope so... :P)
So on Friday nite, Willy picked me up and I spent the nite at his new place
Next morning we head off.. By bus and LRT, first to Pavilion
For the autograph signing session.

Came across this while we were on the bus...

We left at around 9am and by around 10 we reached Pavilion.

KL's already alive early in the morning...

So we got into the line and moments later,
They brought out Rudy from hitz.fm to open up the crowd and keep us entertained.

They gave away Universal Music CDs...
Among them I spotted The Jonas Brothers somewhere while Rudy was flashing them to the crowd... Thats half the reason why i didnt bother answering...

Bought "When The World Comes Down" and...

We get a Meet&Greet Token for after the gig!!! How cool is that?

When I was with Nick, i actually shot him a guitar-related question.
And he was nice enough to answer truthfully... Haha..
Mike was just smiling all the way as if he's on crack... So all I did was just say hi and smile as well... XD
Didnt get to talk to Chris... He was kinda cold actually.. Probably after the long flight.
But when it came to Ty, I just went like "Hey Ty! Wats up? "
And he actually winked at me... XD
But then again, he winked n blew kisses to everyone....

Ok ok.. This post is supposed to be about AAR...
But its just too damn long to complete it in 1 post..
So im gonna get this out of the way first....

About a month ago, I joined another band in uni...
And about 2 weeks ago, my guitarist, Robin wrote a song...
we worked on it for about a week or two
and we finally completed the whole thing. Together with the 2nd guitar part and drums

And out of nowhere, one day Robin received a phone call
From Tiffanie, Tan Sri's daughter
asking him to gather us and head to the studio the next day to record the song.
It was overwhelming.
I literally couldnt sleep that nite..

So we headed into the studio the next day at around 12 something..
Spent the entire day in there.
We finished recording at around 9pm
9 hours in the studio
But we finished the entire thing
Went back that nite,
Farique took everything back home to remaster it.
According to him, he had to work until 3 in the morning to finish up everything

But yea.. At the end of the day...
We got our hands on the finish product.
And we're very very proud of it
The launching of the compilation album would be next month..
And we're set to perform at the event..
Farique even said he'll try to get them to do a MV for it...
No idea, but we're keeping out fingers crossed...

coz tat was the onli time i was free to snap away... :D

Its been a while since I last sat down and blog about a specific topic in mind.
Lately its always been events and happenings around my life...

I can't recall the last time I had time to myself, sitting down, pondering upon things around me.
Everything's been so fast-paced for me the last few months
Its good in a way coz it kinda blocks the negative side of me
U know. The version of me that sits down and thinks about everything he said and did
and start beating himself up on little insignificant mistakes that doesnt really matter most of the time.
But in a way, I still need moments like these to catch my breath
To identify my priorities, to analyze everything thats happening

Yesterday I decided to watch The Reader.
Downloaded it quite some time ago, but never had the chance to sit down and finish the movie
Its pretty good.. No, its REALLY good, I must say.
I like how the author of the book wrote it in a way that the whole movie focuses on a single boy
with such a huge event taking place behind everything that the audience were watching.
Honestly, if it wasnt for the movie (and the internet), I would never have known about the Holocaust and the Death Marches that took place back then.
Really opened up my mind...

So as I was reading up on the Death Marches, somehow I got diverted to reading about Albert Eistein which by the way, I never knew he was a Jew! I guess Im really living under a rock.
From Eistein, I found myself reading about a dude named Baruch Spinoza.
He's a 17th century philosopher with works that are pretty interesting to read about.

He's written lots of books and other stuff that is related to countless of things.
Of all those that I came across, there was one that really captured my attention.
Titled "Ethics Demonstrated In Geometric Order".
Dun misunderstand. He's not refering to the meaning in which we are all used to.
This piece of writing is divided into 5 parts :

I. of God
II. of the Nature and Origin of the Mind
III. of the Origin and Nature of the Affects
IV. of Human Bondage, or the Power of the Affects
V. of the Power of the Intellect, or of Human Freedom

Basically, its about understanding the different elements that we're all experiencing all around us.
Reading this would really put things in a different perspective.
Its amazing how obvious things can get without many people realizing it.
I've started reading a little, and most of his thoughts and theories.
After reading them, I kinda sat down to myself thinking..
"Why on Earth have I never thought of this before???"
It totally changes my mind on everything.

Im still in the process of reading it, but I certainly recommend checking it out.
I mean, he's a reknowned philosopher for a reason... rite?

"To understand, is to be free..."

A wild night

So last Wednesday, I was hanging out with Robin and Idrus as usual.
And out of nowhere, Rob said he's taking us out for the nite,
No matter wat we say, he'll show up at our doorstep and he'll drag us out.

Obviously, I had no say in this,
So by 9pm, he showed up at my place together with Dana, Ainel and Tyrone,
And we took off to a disclosed location.
None of us knew where we were going...

Moments later, I found myself in Bukit Bintang.
Parked the car, walked a bit, and he took us to this bar opposite BB Plaza...

It looked like a regular bar...
Music, DJ, live band, drinks, the usual stuff...
Only difference was, there was a stage right in the middle of the room...

We waited and waited, and at around 12.45, we all got ready for this "show".
The host announced the start of the show,
and the "Divas" hit the stage.
Apparently the shows are only on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturday nites...

They were pretty good, I must say.

We were really lucky coz we were sitting near the dressing room,
So after the show, we managed to catch them while they were on their way back
Dana n me managed to snap a pic with them...

Gosh, I have been neglecting my blog for so long now...
This post was supposed to go up like about a week ago now...
Anyways, here it goes...
Blog entry abt the best gig I've been to... So far...

So the day started off with KaySim picking me up from my place,
Together with SheeWuee, we left for pyramid to meet Hema & Wilson who joined us a little later.
We found ourselves settling in TGI Fridays for lunch.
Needed to fuel up for the long day ahead of us... :P

So after lunch, it was already 2 something, so we rushed to Sunway Lagoon's main entrance since the gate was scheduled to open at around 3.
To our surprise, the line wasnt that long after all.

Tickets!
I was thinking, since its an MTV event, I expected the line to be CRAZY...
It was still long, but wasnt long enough to keep us waiting that.. well.. long.. XD

On another note, while we were lining up, we spotted a few familiar faces...
Met Charlotte, after a long time... Together with Hema's sis..
And well, some others as well....

So after passing the gates, and the ridiculous number of bag checks, we got into the venue..
With smuggled mineral water and chocs at our disposal.. :P

There were XPAX banners everywhere.. And I do mean EVERYWHERE...
One could only wonder the amount of money Celcom actually forked out for the event.

So we got in, played a little game where Hema almost won herself a new Nokia handphone.
Sponsored by xpax of course..
But in the end, we all just walked off with free drinks.. Haha...

So we carried on walking in, (It was a long walk to the Surf Beach itself)

This is what we do to kill time.

And when we got there, the mere size of the area for the gig just stunned me.
I mean, seriously... I had no idea how big the place until i actually stood there... It was massive!
No problem at all holding 15000 people for the event.

And the stage...
All the sound equipments.. and the lightings...
Just left me in awe...
Awesome!

Honestly, till the thing started, nth much happened.
We picked a spot, and just chilled all the way till the event started.
We waited for like an hour if im not mistaken?

And then we had a little surprise,
The sky darkened, and it started raining...
We were so not prepared for the rain.
If it wasnt for the wet weather kit they provided us with, we would've been soaked wet.

Not the most glamourous thing to wear, but it kept us dry.
Till the rain stopped.

Now, for the performances.

Bear in mind, I only had normal tickets,
Therefore, I couldnt get close enough to actually snap pics of the bands.
So some of these photos u see are from the internet... Some from MTV...
Im gonna keep it short, or else I wud just go on and on abt the performances.. :P

Estranged opened up the evening belting out their hits, getting the crowd headbanging along to their rhythm.

By the time they hit "In No Time" they literally had the crowd jumping and screaming all the way till the back.
Our local boys rocked the house that evening.

To my surprise, after a short break, the next band to hit the stage was Boys Like Girls themselves...

It was as if the event organizers even had the weather controlled in their hands
Coz right before the band played "Thunder", the sky darkened, & it drizzled a bit..

But the highlight of their performance would definitely be "The Great Escape",
Where Martin Johnson got so hyped till he climbed the rafters like 30 feet in the air!!!
The crowd just went crazy. And that is when I knew, I was definitely in a MTV event... For sure..

Never expected them to be so crazy Live... XD

As night falls, the next band up was Raygun.

Cant remember their set list, but their performance that nite definitely made me a fan.
Gonna go out and grab their CD as soon as i recover financially... :P

Next up was the gig's only solo performer, UK's new phenomenon, Pixie Lott
The only song I recognize was her hit "Mama Do", and honestly the only song i liked that nite from her..
Other than that, my only prob was the performance aint exactly live... They were playing a minus 1, and yet they had the "band" up on stage putting up an act...
Well, maybe the bass was playing, I duno, but defnitely not the entire band.
But any hoots, it was still a great performance...

Next up was Hoobstank, and by the time the VJs announced them, the crowd were already going crazy, even before they stepped up on stage.
My 2nd favourite performance of the nite, after AAR of course.

There was a minor complication at the beginning, where Doug's mic just stopped in the middle of a sing-along he did with the crowd.
He then went on to grab a new one, and continue the sing-along with the crowd, and thank God, the Malaysian crowd responded well...

Yup, u read it right. Hoobastank covered "Ghostbusters", the 80s hit.
It triggered a massive sing along from the crowd.. It was just crazy!!!
Of course it couldnt match the noise from the crowd when they played "The Reason"
The moment they played the simple keys intro, everyone screamed on top of their lungs, and sang along throughout the entire song.
Crazy, I tell u... Crazy!

And then...

Its finally time for The All American Rejects to hit the stage.
For me, these guys were the main attraction of the night.
When they were announced, the stage darkened, and everyone just went insane.
I could hardly hear myself,
But then again, maybe its coz I was screaming along with everyone else... :P

I was surprised when they actually played their early hits, "Dirty Little Secret", and their very first single "Swing Swing". Totally did not expect that at all.
Tyson Ritter did not dissapoint at all,
He was literally working his ass off from the moment the first chord was hit, all the way till the end of the set.
Causing him to sweat from head to toe, as if he just took a shower.

There was this part during "The Real World" where the band goes quiet and it was only vocals and keys playing.
The crowd went even more crazy when every single lights were switched off, and I do mean every single light that was on that nite...
There was only a beam focussing on Tyson, and he sang that particular part as if he was the only one left in the world...
It was magical.

And as expected, they closed their set with their new single "Gives You Hell".
And damn, the distortion on the guitars were freaking heavy!
Till at one point, Wilson actually thought it was the bass that was on distortion... XD

Kasabian were the closing acts, but we didnt stay on for them
Yea, not exactly proud of myself... But still, I had loads of fun..
We left early to avoid the crowd, and it was getting real late.

An event that will always be on my mind.
Best gig ever!!!
It'll be hard to top it though...
VERY VERY HARD... Its really that good...

But most important of all, I get to experience it with some of my close friends...

Extremely close call...
For a moment I thought i lost my voucher for 2 tickets.
Came back home after a long day out, right after class all the way till 12 something... AM.
Realized 1 of my voucher is nowhere to be found.
Scared the shit out of myself, turned my room upside down, still couldnt find it.
In the end, I had no choice, the event's less than 24 hours away,
I got my dad to drive me all the way back to my hostel to check that room over there...

Was praying the whole way there,
And Thank GOD, i found it.
It was in between some books. In 1 of my storage boxes... -.-''

I totally forgot to blog about this,
It just happened like 2 days ago. Got me all hyped up abt it.
Well, before this, I only had 1 voucher from Xpax to claim 2 tickets.
So it was only gonna be KaySim n myself... (I knw... I knw.. Dun say a word abt it..)
Hema n tall Ng wanted to go as well, but couldnt get tickets.
Just to try my luck, I joined every single contest I cud find that was giving away the tickets.
And like 2 days ago, while I was in campus chilling, for no apparent reason, I felt like something just told me to go online and check my twitter account. (I dun have internet in my hostel at the moment)
And this is wat i saw.

I literally flipped!!!
I was speechless...
My prayers were answered!!!
Good thing i checked it that day itself, coz it was the same day of the deadline.
And I had like a few hours to reply to them.
Got that done, next day got a phone call from them,
With Izat's help, I got myself to Menara Star at PJ and managed to claim 2 more tickets.

And as of today, thanks to Martin's fren who only bought 1 of his 2 tickets,
Wilson gets to come along as well...
So from onli KaySim n me..
Now we have 5 ppl going altogether..
Not bad huh? XD
I am so looking forward to it...
Can't even seem to sleep right now...

Oh yeah, my only regret, it aint the best seats of the nite...

And guess wat tickets I got?
Yea.. Red Zone.. Unfortunately..
But I dun really mind, really...

Just watched this a few hours ago.
Totally recommend it... I mean, its like I was laughing every 10 seconds throughout the entire movie...
Its totally a must-watch.
Although it has the typical chick flick kinda story line.
But who cares? Its Sandra Bullock we're talking about here.. :P

So a few of us decided to throw Ainel a surprise birthday dinner
Went through so much of trouble organizing, getting people. the place
Transport, and stuff like that...
Its been a while since I last organize something, and Im kinda rusty... :P

Izat found a place at Look Out Point in Cheras
Wait, is it Cheras, or Hulu Langat?
Its kinda in the middle of everything actually.

Cost RM40 per head,
Food turned out ok.
I must say its really regular food though, nothing special
The only thing to look forward there is the gorgeous view...
Literally the entire city is visible from that point.
Totally reccommend checking it out
So worth the long drive up there

Was so busy with the details,
the itsy bitsy stuff u have to make sure goes alrite when ur there
Till i totally forgot to take pics...
Oh well... Nth much to blog about then.. :P

MTV recently announced the remaining acts who will be making an appearence....
Things just cant get any better Im telling u... :P

So 1st of all...
We got a UK breakout artiste
Honestly, I havent heard of her before this (maybe coz I dun listen to radio much)
But I checked out her song on9.
And its pretty good...

Looking forward to her performance

Moving on, (this is where it gets juicier...)
We have a band whose album I really really love..
Like every single song..
From "Thunder" to "The Great Escape" to "Holiday"

Boys Like Girls baby!!!!

And these guys...
Its really about time they come play in our small little South East Asian country...
Wait, I honestly have no idea if they ever came here before..
Anyways...

Hoobastank is making an appearence as well...
I've heard some pretty negative thoughts about their latest album....
But I'm still staying positive
After all, they are the ones who brought us hits like
"The Reason" and "Crawling In The Dark"

3 big bands coming over...
Its so gonna go down as the gig of the year..
Really looking forward to it

A few days ago, Izat, Martin n myself went on an adventure together...
Well, not exactly adventure ler.. Just that...
We took Izat's car all the way to Segambut only to leave it at the workshop there..
And we totally never planned how to get back..

After some time walking, we found a cab,
Got in, told the guy to drive us to the nearest train station.
Thought it wud be EXTREMELY far away,
Only to find out later that the trip only cost us RM3. Imagine how "far" was it.. -.-''

Took the KTM all the way back to Subang, and then a bus to Pyramid...
That's it..
Ok la.. So it wasnt really an adventure...
But it felt like it coz when we were in Segambut, we had no idea wat to do and how to get there, wherever that is....

So at pyramid, we watched Public Enemies...
And later that nite, I went with my dad to Cineleisure to catch a special preview of Taking Pelham 123

Both movies were awesome.. Totally reccommend them...
Johnny Depp and John Trovolta's acting.. Totally awesome!!!

And Johnny Depp does look a little bit like the real John Dillinger... :P

Went through so much of problems trying to get people to come..

Long due Genting post

This post has been due a week edi...
I'll try to keep it short...
So last week, to celebrate the end of semester, as well as Dana's birthday..
We decided to go up to Genting for a day's trip...
It was totally spontaneous, really
We went to Jusmin's place on Sunday nite to celebrate her birthday
And before heading back to Subang, we met up with Dana and Ainel at Cyberia
And there itself we decided to go up to Genting the next day.
Plan finalized at 3am, we left at 8am... :P

So Izat & me met up and we took a bus to KTM and then the train to KL Sentral to meet up with the rest
Got there and Bassam and the girls were edi there
Took another train to Gombak and took a cab up, since we had to wait long for the next bus that is available.

So, we got up there, had lunch and head towards the theme park...
Usual stuff, going on rides...
But this time I tried a few i never dared to before this.. :P

Soon after we're done with the theme park, Robin arrived after work.
We then chilled for a bit at Starbucks and then move on to dinner at Old Town.
After that, we head off to Ripley's and the Haunted House...
Spent quite some time there, had so much of fun...
Especially the Haunted House part,
Seeing Robin jumping and screaming like a 5 year old was just priceless.. :P

So as the day closes to an end, we have to decide if we're spending the nite up there
The girls looks totally exhausted, and Robin had to leave...
So, since there was only 1 car, Izat & me decided to stay back
and take the first morning bus home...
Bassam, Robin and the girls left in Rob's car...

Just for fun, Izat & myself decided not to get a hotel room,
To see if we can stand without one,
and also to save up on cash... Since we've already spent so much...
We ended up spending the nite at random places around Genting,
Even managed to catch Terminator Salvation, midnight movie...
And we took the morning bus home...
Came back, totally exhausted, crashed on my bed right away... XD

Everyone's leaving on a jet plane... Officially hate that song..

Finally its all over!!!
All the late nites... Reading up on stuff that I dun really care about.. Sometimes.. :P
Exam's over!!! The semester is over!!!
Thats if I dun have to resit or resubmit any assignments..
But I think it shud be ok... :D

So.. A thing or two happened... From the last time I updated my blog till today...
Among them...
Crashed at Robin's place at The Heritage.. Next To Mines..
To study up for the exams..
The 1st nite we went to Mine's for dinner... And this is what we stumbled upon...
(It was an extremely late dinner)

A 7-Eleven outlet..
Thats closed...
Ironic dun u think?

So, on another note..
Limkokwing recently awarded our former Prime Minister, Tun Dr. Mahathir
with an Honorary Humanitarian Doctorate..
Obviously, attendence was compulsary for all students.. Although its exam week...
So we were there...
Crowd was unbelieveable...

And the crowd exiting the Hall Of Fame after the whole event..
Thank God we found the back door out..

And another thing on the list of the crazy stuff I've done ever since I came to uni...
Went out "clubbing" right after my 1st exam paper...
When I actually have like 4 more papers the very next week.. XD
Was a last minute thingy... To celebrate Diana's bday..
Was an awesome nite.. Although some complications occured, causing me n Izat to miss the whole session.. But still it was great.. :D

Just yesterday we celebrated another birthday..
This time for Arai... Went to Helo Bali at Sunway..
Again, it was a last minute thingy...

A few updates from yours truly,

Well, there's a resaonable explanation why I havent been updating my blog..
First of all, FINALS IS NEXT WEEK!!! And honestly I havent started studying...
Well, I've been spending so much of time stressing about it.. But yea, i havent started studying... :P

Second, I've been going out almost every weekday nite...
Chilling at the same cafe in Cyber, trying to get some work done, and study...
But most of the time ended up chilling, and shisha-ing... haha...

And THE MOST concrete reason...
Is that my internet account here in Desaria expired..
Like 2 days ago?
I had so much to blog abt that day.. Only to realize later I dun have a net connection...

Oh well...
That aside, to those of u who didnt know..
I lost my wallet last week...
Scared the shit out of me.. Woke up in the morning and i couldnt find my wallet...
The only reasonable explanation is that I left it somewhere in Old Town the nite before when we were studying....
Coz my room was locked the whole nite, noone could've came in...
Oh well,
Had to do so much of running around ytd...
But I got it all done... License.. IC.. ATM Cards.. Everything...
Im a legal citizen in this country again!!! Weeeeeeeee!!!

So, yesterday was another day out with everyone...
A very long day in fact...
Started off with Kevin, picking me up as early as 10 in the morning...
Plan was to meet up with the gang around 1 in the afternoon, then movie at 2...
But he needed to go find a place, so we started off early...
The place we had in mind, Taman Desa Titiwangsa.. Or something like tat...

We started off from Subang... Took the KESAS, went on to Bukit Jalil...
Passed by IMU, led to Old Klang Road, came out to Federal near Mid Valley...
Took a wrong turn, went to downtown KL...
Got lost in KL, somehow.. And we just decided to leave back for Subang..
Sad rite? XD

So after that, we went straight to Pyramid, had lunch at Sakae Sushi, bought the movie tickets and waited for the rest to arrive..
Damn, it sounded like I was on a date with Kev or something.. XD
So anyways,
Soon, 1 by 1, everyone arrived.. And we met up...
We caught the 2.10pm show... For Angels & Demons...

Honestly, minus all the bad stuff they revealed about Christianity,
it is indeed an awesome movie... Thrilling from start to the end..
Highly recommended.. :D

After the movie, we walked around Pyramid..
Supposedly to find a place to eat... But really, all we did is walk around.. For quite some time.. haha..
We settled down at a place in Asian Avenue called RM Restaurant or something like that...
Had our food there... Chit chat chit chat all the way...
Cam-whored a bit as well...
With Christine around, its bound to happen... :P

So after that, before leaving to SS2 for PekYee's bday, we dropped by Padini coz the girls wanted to shop a little...
BIG MISTAKE!!!
Think we ended up spending about an hour in Padini alone..
Thanks to the girls.. The guys were just blindly walking around, chit chat-ing, not knowing wat to do...
Oh, one good thing did come out of it though..
I spotted this jacket at the SEED corner... About the same as the one me and Martin have been drooling over...
Costs Rm300+... Im so gonna get it.. I MUST!!!

After Padini, we "quickly" left for SS2, since we're already like more than an hour late...
Sadly, Christine didnt join us... Cant believe she chose clothings over hanging out.. tsk tsk...
So anyway,
We manage to find our way there,
And the others were already there... Long before us.. (No surprises there)

Murni. Thats wat the place was called...
Their menu was very unique.. I had Roti Hawaii which was basically all kinds of meat wrapped up in a big roti canai..
And for my drink, Mango Special.. Which I actually manage to find some watermelon in it.. Weird..
Kevin's drink was even better... Dubbed "I Love You". And i notice whenever u say that to the waiter, they replied "Me too..." -.-''

We basically spent the entire nite talking and talking all the way...
Oh yea, we played a short game of I Never as well..
Since Shee Wuee was dying to play that game.. We played it with Mango Juice... -.-''
But it was still fun...

Nth much happening around me lately actually..
Just a few random stuff...

1. Started going down to the court almost every evening to play bball... Picking it up.. Love it... Hopefully it does some good to my physique...
2. Things in Tree Hill is getting so different... And dramatic ( as always...) But no matter wat, im still hooked unto it... :D
3. Assignments galore!!! Got 2 due this week... And 1 major 1 due next week, but i havent even started... Things are gonna get a little hectic..
4. Finals in less than a month!!! And I just realized it like a few hours ago.. Its Week 11 edi for goodness sake!!!

5. Went clubbing last Thursday nite.. Eve of Labor Day... Gotta go out and mingle rite? Takkan wanna stay at this miserable place and sulk? So we hit Barcelona... Which was ok, except for the RM40 cover charge and the overcrowded dance floor... No wait.. Make it an overcrowded club altogether... We could hardly move a step wherever we went... But it was fun...

Other than that, nth much really..
Yeah, I know.. My life's pretty dull...

Im gonna keep this short coz I have a class in the morning... And its edi like 2 past midnight...

So anyways...

Last Sunday was Shee Wuee's bday...
We all gathered at Damansara... First for a movie at Cineleisure..
Plan initially was to watch She's Not That Into You,
But the birthday girl edi watched it before this, so we switched to Friday the 13th instead....
Gotta admit, Cathay Cineplax is officially one of the best cinema's I've ever been to...
Its literally pitch-black inside when the lights are off....
Seats are really comfy, ppl in front wont be blocking... Screen's huge!!!
Simply amazing!!!

But honestly, the movie wasnt that nice...
It was one of those typical thriller kinda movie...
Worse part is Danielle Panabacker had to die!!! WHY????

So after the movie, we walked out to this small little arcade...
And the girls spotted those Japanese-like photo booth...
Pulled the guys in.. Ended up spending like RM20 in total for photos smaller than a guitar pick... -.-''

We proceeded for lunch right after that...
Walked over to The Apartment at The Curve...
I absolutely ADORE the place!!!
Its just beautiful... And its name is appropriate... When u walk in, its literally like someone's apartment...
And the food was.. Ahhh.... Heavenly... Although the portion wasnt that big...
My only complain.. The service.. Everyone there had faces so bitter as though we killed their entire family or something...

But overall, a great experience... Great place, great food...
I strongly recommend trying...
Just get ur wallets ready... :P

What's the point?
Why do we do what we do?
If ur around my age, u are most probably still studying in college or uni,
Lying at the edge before finally falling into the real world,
But why? Like I asked before, why do we do what we do?

Why do we pay thousands of dollars to an institution,
For them to get people to teach us stuff
That we could actually learn up on our own outside of classes,
Only if we put in a little effort.
Why do we pay them so much of money
Just for the world to know that they recognize our efforts of studying.

Why do we struggle everyday
to gain acceptance from the people around us
Why do sometimes we even have to change who we really are
Just so that the people around us wont cast us out of their world.
Why do we need other people's approval and acceptance?
Why do we look at the guy or girl everyone's been talking about
And envy their looks and personality... And circle of friends.
Why are we never happy in our own skin?

Why are we constantly looking for that special someone,
And when we don't find them, we condemn ourselves...
Or look for love in some other places, or even some other people,
Why sometimes we settle, knowing that its wrong and we'll eventually tear again,
Why can't we live without this area present?
Or rather, why can't we wait?
Why do we need someone else to complete our lives?
We are an individual on our own... Isn't that enough?

Why do we constantly go for things that are wrong?
Tell us that its wrong, and we'll purposely pursue it even more...
Why? Knowing its wrong, we still pursue it?
Temporary pleasures to heal the pain...
But what healing does it do when its only temporary?
Like a band-aid, it helps stop the bleeding,
But it doesnt close up the wound.
We're bound to be exposed again.

The Light of Day...

My sincere apologies for not updating for so long....
Its been like wat? A month...
Slightly more than a month actually..
Reason being...

Erm...

Lets see....
After Heal The World, I got caught up with exam preparations...
And a few assignments here and there...
Just finished my mid terms last week...
And im having my mid term break at the moment.. Not long.. Only a week...

Well, lets just sum it all up in a short post wat happened after my last post :

1. A memorable "planned" clubbing outing to Helo Bali in Sunway turned out to be a road trip to police stations around Sepang looking for Amy's IC and license...

2. Spent 2 nites at McD, Seri Kembangan supposedly studying... But in the end turned out to be a lepak-ing session.. Thx to Izat n Robin... Cars, bikes, and chics.. 3 topics that carried out all nite long..

3. 2 days of L4D at SS15 after mid terms... Robin, Izat, Idrus and myself... Had a blast...

4. Watched Fast & Furious for the 2nd time.. Also after mid terms.. With Izat, Idrus, myself, Rob n his gf... No regrets.. Awesome movie..

5. Had a haircut.. Tried the express 15min RM15 X-Cut store.. Turned out better than expected...

6. Embarked on a spontaneous trip to Genting with Martin ( just came back today )....
Turned out being over spontaneous cost us... All the hotels were fully booked... We had to wander around looking for those "agents" who gets the room from the hotel n rents it out at a higher price... So we paid RM150 the first nite for this :

Its a place in Ria Apartments.. Its HORRIBLE!!! Like some whore house or something like that... Thank God we got a room in First World for the 2nd nite, I cant imagine living in tat place for the 2nd nite...

7. Clubbed and drank 2 nites in a row in Safari.. For the 2nd time!!! I guess Safari is officially the club I visited the most now.. XD
Had a blast the 1st nite... Dint know I could actually make someone jealous.. In a club.. :P
2nd nite was kinda down, crowd was cold... But I still had my alcohol... Sometimes, tats enough...

8. Oh yea!!! How cud I forget... The guys in Desa actually celebrated my bday for me... Cake, candles and everything... (Sry no pics... Too bz being pushed around) And as usual, Desa's tradition, they threw me into the pool after midnight... The ice-cold pool.. I was soaked... And cold.. Thx guys!!! I had a blast.. Other than the part of being tossed into the cold water...

9. The guys back here also took me out for dinner a few days before my bday... And got me a shirt from Quicksilver... Thx a lot guys!!!

9. I officially finished my very first fragrance, CK One.. I just launched my 2nd, Pleasures Intense For Men by Estee Lauder.. Bought a 2nd cheaper one, Soul from The Face Shop as my 2nd scent.. And best part is.... I got this for my birthday...

Intuition For Men by Estee Lauder.. The original fragrance I wanted.. Told my dad to get it, he got me Pleasures instead...
So now I have 3 different fragrance to choose from every time I go out... XD
Thanks Martin!!! U really made my bday this year!!!

10. My 2nd and older phone, K750i finally failed me... Its been a couple of years edi, I thought it cud still hang on for a while, but its edi giving me probs... I can only use it occasionally now, if im lucky enough to get it to start up... So, sry ppl if I dun reply ur sms(s). Contact my Digi number.. I have tat in my Nokia at the moment...

I guess that's about it...
Nth much, but I would say Im having a good time so far...
Hopefully my life outside studying will only get better in the near future... :P

Btw, someone's bday is coming up this Sunday... :D

Radiant's debut

~Kept this post as a draft for a week coz I was too lazy to finish it...~
~This post was edited over a few days and finally posted up on 20th March~
~So, i apologize if the time frame is a little off~

Last sem I got together with a few friends,
And we formed a band... Calling ourselves Radiant...
And we finally made our debut in uni yesterday...
Limkokwing University recently organized an event called "Heal The World"
In support of the plight for the recent Palestinian war.
Ok, some of us might not agree with it, but let's not go there right now...

I was told a week before we got our shot at performing in uni on friday....
Was really worried about it, but I figured it wud just be the regular Friday afternoon band performances at plaza during lunch time...
Only to find out later its for a fund raising charity concert, in the presence of a foreign country ambassador, university VIPs, and of coz sound and music faculty people...

So we basically spent the entire week in and out of the studio, practicing for the big event..
Honestly, its really getting in the way with my classes and studies...
Im actually behind now in Business Law and IBS..
Gonna have to buck up and catch up over the next few weeks...

So, on the day itself, around 12pm I got an sms from Davis telling me that our sound check was pulled forward from 3pm to 1230pm...
Great way to start the day.. I rushed to the shower, got ready, met up with him and we went over to campus...
Only to find out that they were still busy setting up the sound equipments...
There was nothing much we could do, we just hang out, had lunch...
Went up later to check on the studio, see if we could practice a little more... Only to find out that its totally closed.. Everything was brought down for the event...

So, we just chilled all the way till around 3pm... Then the bands started going up for the sound check...
Waited for Joy to come with her guitar, and we were up, right after Melodica..
Another great start for our band, sound check right after the best band in the uni...

Soundcheck went pretty well... It was more pressure than I thought, although its just a soundcheck...
After that, we carry on to juz chill...
As time pass, we could see the guest artists coming in one by one...
All taking turns to do their sound check...
We took the time to grab a bite, and freshen up.. All of us changed into our outfits..
And we waited...
and waited...
and waited....

As if we were'nt waiting long enough, when it was our turn to play,
they announced the arrival of the VIP...
Suddenly, everything was in a mess....
The stage manager... or wtv u call him, the guy who organize the acts....
He told us that they had to put our act on hold... We cant go up after the other student bands as planned earlier....
So we waited, they carried on with the official events...
We who were supposed to "open up" with the other amateur student bands, had to wait till further notice...
FYI, we were told we were up at around 640pm..

We waited ALL THE WAY till about 11pm and still no news about us going up..
On and off they wud come n tell us to standby, they might find an opening...
But we were still waiting backstage, wandering around... Waiting for good news...
Finally our opportunity came... When the staff couldnt locate one of the guest artist for the nite, Dina of Malaysian Idol Season 1....
She was supposed to perform right after Common Culture, a Malaysian based American band...
So since she was nowhere to be found, we were put on standby again... And by the look of it, we were gonna make it this time....
Only bad news is, Common Culture totally got the crowd all hyped up...
They performed 2 songs at first... But they continued to do another 2 more for the encore...

There was really not much we could do.. We tried to keep the hype up in the audience...
But the bar was set really high...
And we only had one song planned for the nite...
Titled Beyond A Cry, written by Joy specially for the event itself...
So we didn't really expected much, we just step up after Common Culture, set up and played our song...
Well, obviously the crowd wasn't as responsive as they were during the previous act...
But they were ok... We expected worse...
They did respond.. At least our presence were noticed...
Best part of all, is we actually enjoyed ourselves up on stage...

And for the iceing on the cake...
Few days ago, Joy forwarded an email from Tifannie Marie, our beloved President's daughter and his "special assistant"..
Praising us for our effort... And saying that they'll deifnitely invite us to play more shows in the future...

Well,
Guess all our efforts actually paid off... :D

My only regret...
We were too excited and nervous about our performance,
that we totally forgot to get people to take pictures of us on stage... XD

Its a beginning for Radiant... Hopefully there'll be more in the future...
